Hunger pangs, trying to lose weight – try Chia seeds for breakfast
Eat breakfast like a king– as the saying goes.
Breakfast is largely agreed to be the most important meal of the day especially if you’re trying to control or lose weight. So why not treat yourself to a delicious, filling, and wholesome breakfast treat worthy of a king?
The little chia seed — which comes in either a white or a dark brown and black colour — has a huge nutritional profile. It contains calcium, manganese, and phosphorus, and is a great source of healthy omega-3 fats.
Most importantly, it can be made into a mouth-wateringly tasty treat.
Try our simply healthy Mango Chia Cup – preparation time is just 5 minutes!
¼ cup Chia Seeds
1 cup unsweetened Almond Milk (or any other nut or soy milk of your choice)
1 Mango (can be substituted for any preferred fruit)
1 tablespoon Sunflower Seeds
1 tablespoon Pumpkin Seeds* (optional)
1-2 tablespoons Honey (or alternative natural sweetener)
- Combine almond milk, chia seeds, and honey in a bowl or cup. Mix well until the mixture begins to thicken.
- Cover and place in a fridge for 20 – 30 minutes or until your preferred consistency is achieved. (You’ll notice the seeds start to develop a gelatinous exterior. The longer you leave your chia seeds to soak the gooier and less crunchy they will be).
- Chop your Mango or preferred fruit. Add to Chia mixture.
This Mango Chia Cup can be enjoyed any time of the day. For an added touch of nutritional tastiness try adding a spoonful of plain natural yoghurt on top.
