From the ancient sea bed of the Laguna de Zacoalco in Mexico.
The main component of diatomaceous earth is silicon dioxide. This naturally occurring substance is mined from old lake beds. It's composed of diatoms that have fossilized over millennia in old freshwater lake zones.
Diatomaceous earth is the fossilized shells of microscopic water-dwelling organisms known as diatoms. Diatoms are one-celled plants (algae or phytoplankton) that are the primary food source for marine life. These plants have been part of the earth's ecology since prehistoric times, yet their species still exists today in both salty and fresh waters all over the world.
Diatom Nutri is 89 - 95 percent amorphous silica. As well as being very high in silica percentage it also contains 15 essential trace minerals including phosphorous, selenium, calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc and iron.
Food grade diatomaceous earth is a natural powder that works in a purely physical/mechanical manner, not "chemical" and thus has no chemical toxicity. Food grade DE has NO odor.
Silica alone is in fact crucial to bones, tendons, skin, cartilage and blood vessels. Silica exists in the bloodstream and important organs such as the liver, heart, and lungs.
Food grade Diatomaceous earth is the only type of DE safe for human consumption.
